DaSkoolMate: Blending Kwatio, and Gqom music styles, Daskoolmate became one of South Africa's local artists during the first half of the 2016s. Vocalist and rapping almost entirely in Zulu, he writes resonant sounds about daily life matters, and his songs effortlessly demonstrate how much common ground contemporary kwatio and Gqom have with traditional Zulu musical forms. After breaking through with his first single debut, 2017's Ibambe, his fame spread around local townships where he featured K-man. Daskoolmate was born and raised in the small South African town known as Ntuzuma. Later relocating to Kwa Mashu. His Kwatio music career as Daskoolmate didn't begin until he was past the age of 20, when he sang the verse to VRG hit single "ISPHITHIPHITHI."
